Ethel Steinmetz Marmont is a seasoned author renowned for her unique blend of political commentary and supernatural storytelling. Her distinguished career in public service culminated in a master’s degree in public administration from The Evergreen State College. Since retiring, she’s contributed numerous political opinion articles to local publications. Her love for fantasy storytelling shines in her children’s book, The Adventures of Vicant the Venomous. Ethel resides in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, with her husband Jim, and their dachshund, Charlie. A woman of many talents, Ethel continues to captivate a broad audience, from science fiction and fantasy lovers to political enthusiasts.

Ethel, the daughter of public school educators, grew up in the great Northwest. She was born in Montana and spent her childhood in eastern Washington, specifically in Omak. Ethel frequently traveled to North Idaho to visit her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. As an adult, she became familiar with western Washington while working for many years in Olympia. Later, she settled along the coast of Washington State, living on Camano Island near Port Susan and at the edge of the Salish Sea in Ferndale, WA. Over the years, Ethel and her husband, Jim, visited Port Townsend, WA, numerous times. It was during a wedding anniversary trip that she began to form the plot for her book, The Roses of Port Townsend.
